Pre 1997: All services, including gas connections, are undertaken by the gas board and then, subsequently, British Gas.
1997: British Gas, as was, is split into a gas transportation arm and a customer services arm. Transco own the national gas distribution network and undertake gas connections to that network. British Gas sell gas to consumers.
2001: Transco Connections is created as a standalone company from a business unit in Transco.
2002: Transco Connections is renamed Fulcrum Connections. Lattice (formerly BG plc) and National Grid merge to form National Grid Transco.
2005: Fulcrum becomes a service provider to all five networks, continuing to undertake 140,000 domestic, industrial and commercial gas connections nationally.
2005/6/7: Capitalising on market opportunities presented by network sales, Fulcrum becomes a Utility Infrastructure Provider (UIP), gains Gas Industry Registration Scheme (GIRS), Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS) and National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) accreditation and begins working directly with shippers, developers and energy consumers providing end to end gas connection and Multi Utility services.
Fulcrum Connections creates three wholly owned subsidiary companies and changes its name to Fulcrum Group Holdings Limited; all begin trading as Fulcrum.
2007: Ofgem grants Fulcrum a Gas Transporter (GT) licence meaning that it can now design, build and own its own independent gas distribution networks.
2009: Fulcrum adds renewable energy sources to its energy solutions portfolio. This suite of services ensures customers have complete choice when deciding on how they bring energy to their projects.
