Fulcrum was appointed to design and install a 3km pipeline to supply gas to the latest Center Parcs holiday village; Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire.
The new pipeline links Center Parcs’ new £250 million, 362 acre Woburn Forest site to the gas network.
The new installation supplies natural gas to an energy centre that includes combined heat and power units (CHP) and a central biomass boiler, providing energy for the indoor pool and leisure facilities, 625 lodges, a luxury hotel, self-contained Spa Suites and retail outlets. The gas supply will also support hotel laundry facilities and cooking in the many restaurants.
On award of the contract, Center Parcs Woburn Construction Director, Don Camilleri said:
“Protection of the environment has always been a fundamental guiding principle for Center Parcs and Woburn Forest will be no exception. Center Parcs has a sustainability strategy in place which has been agreed by the local authority and as such, Fulcrum will be providing us with a safe, natural gas connection to support Woburn Forest.”
