How will the Olympic and Paralympic Games impact on my plan date?

The Olympic  and Paralympic Games will be two of the most exciting events of 2012. The games present a significant organisational challenge and with preparations already underway, many companies and individuals are being asked to do things differently to help make the games a success.

The Olympic and Paralympic Route Networks

In order to ensure that athletes and officials can get to events quickly and safely, an Olympic Route Network (ORN) and Paralympic Route Network (PRN) will be in place for the duration of the games.

These roads must be kept free of all non-emergency road works to help minimise traffic disruption. As a result, permits to work in the road will not be granted for any non emergency works in these areas. Some restrictions are already in effect. These will increase in early 2012 until full implementation on 1st March 2012 through to 30th September 2012.

More detailed Information relating to the ORN and PRN can be found on the London 2012 website: www.london2012.com.

How this will affect your project

If you require works in or around the ORN, please place your order as soon as possible, as it is highly unlikely that works will be able to commence during the games. As always, we will work with you to meet your timescales prior to the embargos and where projects can not be planned during the games period we will propose alternative solutions.

Will I have one point of contact in design and/or planning stages?

Yes, we provide a single designer who'll discuss your project with you.  You'll also speak with a single office and onsite contact when your project is planned. We also have a national network of Business Development Managers who are the first point of contact for our larger customers.

After payment, when will my work be carried out?

After you place an order, we will begin our planning process for the work you have asked us to carry out. You will receive an initial call from us clarifying what work is required and what plan date you would like. Wherever possible we try to accommodate specific dates required and aim to have a plan date to you within a 3-5 day window.

There are several technical reasons why there are timescales attached to certain jobs and the length of time it takes Fulcrum to obtain permissions to do your work. If we are connecting in a public area we will require permission from the local highways authority to excavate in the public highway and these can take anything from 15 days to 90 days to gain agreement.

How do I find out a start date for my work to be carried out?

A start date will be agreed with you and confirmed both verbally and in writing, providing you with sufficient time to complete any preparation prior to our works. We'll also call you before works commence to ensure that you're still ready for us.

How long will it take for my work to be carried out?

This varies depending on your project and its location. We will visit your site after you place your order to determine an estimated duration for the works. This is done before planning the project and we will confirm all plan dates as soon as possible.

How quickly can you arrange for the installation of my gas meter?

If we are installing both your service and meter, the meter installation will typically take place within 2 days of the connection being completed.  If we're installing your meter as a standalone service, we can normally install it in 7-10 working days following your order (providing you have a contract in place with your supplier).

I have a plan date but I now need it sooner.  Can you bring my date forward?

It's sometimes possible to arrange an earlier plan date. If another customer delays their project, we may be able to provide you with an earlier date if all required permissions (e.g. authority from the highways) are granted.

Is my plan date an all day appointment?

Yes, we will require access from 8am until the work is completed.

I have gas at the moment. Will I be off gas while you complete the works?

A gas interruption is likely if we're completing an alteration or upgrade to an existing supply. Please let us know if you require your supply to remain constant during our works and we will discuss the options available to you.

Will I need to arrange my own Gas Safe engineer?

This depends on your specific project and individual requirements.  You can check this with your dedicated designer by contacting them directly.

Is weekend working possible?

Yes, we can quote for specifically working at the weekend. Please let us know if you require weekend work on your project.

Can the work be done in stages as I'm not sure that the whole site will be ready in one visit?

Smaller or simple works are normally completed in one visit.  For larger or phased developments, a minimum of 5 properties must be ready for connection on each visit (with the exception of show homes).  However, we can also quote to phase the work depending on your individual requirements - please let us know your specific requirements when you make your request.

Will you require access to my property on the plan date?

Yes, we will require access to both the site and the property/ properties we will be working at.
