The Project
Fulcrum worked with City Building Glasgow to alter the position
of the existing gas service, currently supplying Tollcross Aquatics
centre.
The gas service alteration was part of the extension and
refurbishment project being carried out in preparation for the
Commonwealth Games 2014 which is to be held at the venue.
About The Site
The Tollcross International Aquatic Centre is part of the
Tollcross Park in Glasgow and has a 50-metre Olympic-grade swimming
pool which has established the centre as a major location for
aspiring swimming athletes, as well as for the wider public to
enhance their swimming abilities.
Our Approach
We worked in close partnership with our customer City Building
Glasgow to ensure we met their expectations in the delivery of
works for this multi-million pound project.
During the design, planning and construction of the project, we
were in regular communication with the customer to ensure their
requirements were fully met at each stage of its delivery.
The Technical Part
The customer required Fulcrum to re-route the existing gas
service supplying Tollcross Aquatics Centre. This alteration
involved diverting the existing pipework around the proposed car
park into the new kiosk location.
In order to divert the gas pipework Fulcrum installed 173m of
250mm polyethylene service, reducing to 82m of 180mm service
terminating externally in a kiosk.
