The Project
Fulcrum was approached by CKC D&B Ltd to provide a
multi-utility connection package to a domestic development named
'Moon Crescent' located in Nottingham.
About The Site
The £5m development was funded by the Homes and Communities
Agency and Nottingham Community Housing Association. This
development which created 40 new homes, was on the old Moon
and Stars pub site and the reason for adopting the name 'Moon
Crescent'.
Our Approach
Over a five month period Fulcrum supported CKC D&B Ltd's
build programme working closely, to ensure we completed the
delivery of works within the desired timeframe.
The Technical Part
The customer required Fulcrum to install over 220 metres of gas,
water and electricity mains which had 40 individual domestic
services branching off the mains to supply the 40 new
properties.
In addition, Fulcrum designed and coordinated a sub-station
installation by the Network, installed 6 street lights and fitted
the new gas and water meters.
The gas network was also adopted by Fulcrum Pipelines
Limited.
A Dedicated Delivery
Multi-Utility Project Delivery Manager Dean Pattison:
"We worked very closely with CKC D&B Ltd throughout the
project so that we had clear visibility of the build programme and
expectations.
As a Housing Association funded project, the target completion
dates were very specific and required Fulcrum to construct all
three utilities in a time efficient and coordinated manner. A
number of obstacles were identified throughout the build
requiring Fulcrum to adopt a proactive approach and provide ongoing
solutions to the client."
What Our Customers Say
"Taking the plunge with multi-utility felt like a step into
unchartered territory for CKC but Fulcrum managed our fears and
delivered our scheme at Eastwood with, dare I say, surprising ease!
Many contractors and developers will have experienced the
minefield of statutory services and will have witnessed their
staff's desperation at the timelost chasing what can seem an
unending circle of dead ends, misinformation and ridiculous lead
times. This constant frustration led CKC to the decision to let
Fulcrum manage all of the services on our behalf and I can honestly
say that the end result was very pleasing indeed.
Our scheme was delivered with punctual information updates which
were not only accurate but enabled improved site programming.
Services were installed in multi use trenches thus negating the
need to interrupt site activities as would have been the case with
individual providers and hence our overall programme was
maintained. Fulcrum's Multi-Utility team have a wealth of knowledge
just waiting to be utilised and it is this insight which gives them
the ability to stay ahead of the market and actually deliver what
they say they will and when."
