Fulcrum, the UK’s leading independent multi-utility infrastructure and services provider, is supporting a North West-based vehicle components manufacturer’s carbon reduction and energy efficiency strategy with a £1.5m gas infrastructure project.

Fulcrum will design and install a dedicated 3.8km gas pipeline to Getrag Ford Transmission systems’ factory in Halewood as part of a Combined Heat & Power (CHP) project being constructed by Onsite Energy Projects Ltd (OEP).

CHP is a highly efficient solution that produces low cost electricity, and also heat used to reduce other energy consumption, which reduces costs and carbon emissions.

With an installation programme of less than five months, Fulcrum will connect the factory to the gas network via a medium pressure pipework, which terminates within the site boundary and connect to the CHP units provided.

This is the latest in a series of CHP projects supported by Fulcrum for companies utilising the technology to help them address their future energy consumption and efficiency challenges.
