Estimators Vacancy (General Job Description )

Due to growing demand in providing quotations to our customers, Dunamis are looking to employing a full time Estimator within its ever expanding commercial team located at Higham adjacent to junction 40 of the A14, approximately 10 miles from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

This new position would be office based and occasionally involve some travelling to carry out inspection surveys before producing competitive tender estimates and corresponding offer letters. The candidate would use their own car when necessary and paid a set mileage allowance when site visiting.

The candidate as a minimum must have knowledge and understanding of electrical installation works in both low voltage (LV) and 11kV high voltage (HV) network systems with suitable qualifications or demonstrable level of achievement through experience in commercial and contractual aspects within the electrical industry. Some civil and building construction knowledge would be an added advantage.

The candidate would be mainly pricing works for LV connections to electric vehicle charger points, housing/flats and commercial/industrial units, 11kV secondary substations, cable trenching within the highways/private landowners and renewable installations (i.e. solar farms, battery storage, gas generation etc.).

This post is aimed at a junior role and the successful candidate would have some guidance and training from the Estimating Manager to share knowledge and experience of the role and its responsibilities. We would also consider an experienced estimator with skills and expertise up to 132kV voltage systems should a candidate become available.

Job requirements

  • Communicate clearly both in writing and the spoken word
  • Have some background in commercial and contractual aspects of tendering within the electrical industry at voltages up to 11kV
  • Be computer literate – Word, Excel Spreadsheets, Project programmes, e-mails
  • Have knowledge of health and safety and its practical implications
  • Have knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Be customer focused to meet customer needs, deadlines and clarify post tender queries
  • Have (or willing to obtain through training) HNC or equivalent in electrical engineering (or demonstrable level of achievement through experience)
  • Obtain best value manufacturers, sub-contractors and material supplier quotations
  • Ensure all confidential sensitive information at all levels are kept within the business
  • Able to work closely with colleagues and management at all levels
  • Hold a full UK, clean drivers licence

This position will be office based would ideally suit someone with experience in B2B and B2C sales, demonstrates a high level of customer service, and has experience of working within a high performing sales culture.

Key Accountabilities

• Achieve revenue and margin Sales targets for specific sales channel in line with the wider business

• Plan and prioritise personal activities to achieve agreed business targets, outputs and SLA’s

• Demonstrate growth of opportunities for the company to quote through lead generation, follow up calls and after sales calls to potential and existing clients

• Negotiate and convert existing customer quotes to close the sale through sales techniques and relationship building

• Respond to sales and web enquiries by phone, email or internet in a timely manner
