Estimators Vacancy (General Job Description )

Due to growing demand in providing quotations to our customers, Dunamis are looking to employing a full time Estimator within its ever expanding commercial team located at Higham adjacent to junction 40 of the A14, approximately 10 miles from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

This new position would be office based and occasionally involve some travelling to carry out inspection surveys before producing competitive tender estimates and corresponding offer letters. The candidate would use their own car when necessary and paid a set mileage allowance when site visiting.

The candidate as a minimum must have knowledge and understanding of electrical installation works in both low voltage (LV) and 11kV high voltage (HV) network systems with suitable qualifications or demonstrable level of achievement through experience in commercial and contractual aspects within the electrical industry. Some civil and building construction knowledge would be an added advantage.

The candidate would be mainly pricing works for LV connections to electric vehicle charger points, housing/flats and commercial/industrial units, 11kV secondary substations, cable trenching within the highways/private landowners and renewable installations (i.e. solar farms, battery storage, gas generation etc.).

This post is aimed at a junior role and the successful candidate would have some guidance and training from the Estimating Manager to share knowledge and experience of the role and its responsibilities. We would also consider an experienced estimator with skills and expertise up to 132kV voltage systems should a candidate become available.

Job requirements

  • Communicate clearly both in writing and the spoken word
  • Have some background in commercial and contractual aspects of tendering within the electrical industry at voltages up to 11kV
  • Be computer literate – Word, Excel Spreadsheets, Project programmes, e-mails
  • Have knowledge of health and safety and its practical implications
  • Have knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Be customer focused to meet customer needs, deadlines and clarify post tender queries
  • Have (or willing to obtain through training) HNC or equivalent in electrical engineering (or demonstrable level of achievement through experience)
  • Obtain best value manufacturers, sub-contractors and material supplier quotations
  • Ensure all confidential sensitive information at all levels are kept within the business
  • Able to work closely with colleagues and management at all levels
  • Hold a full UK, clean drivers licence

A vacancy has arisen within sales for a new Client Services Manager role

This position will be office based and will involve the day to day management of the Key Accounts team. A vacancy has arisen within our Technical Delivery team for a new Technical Administrator

This position will be office based and will involve the day to day administration and planning for all aspects of specialist connection work.

The ideal candidate will act as principal contact for Fulcrum’s specialist connections business, will have previous experience in a technical administrative role, have proven relationship management skills, and the ability to identify and implement change to continuously improve the ways of working.

Key Accountabilities

  • Be the principal contact for all Fulcrum’s specialist connection works
  • Ensure all specialist connection works are planned in line with customer and business requirements
  • Ensure all required NRSWA permissions and traffic management requirements are in place in for the public works to be undertaken
  • Ensure that the health and safety of others is always taken in to consideration by designing out risk wherever reasonably practicable.
  • Liaise with Project Engineer’s to provide administrative support to facilitate the completion of connection works
  • Manage all connection enquiries, customer contacts and sales leads across the business
  • Responsible for the procurement of specialist equipment and materials
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of connection projects
  • Undertake day to day system administration to promote and monitor works order
  • Produce job pack information by collating a variety of source material, icnlusing approved designs, NRSWA details and existing utility plans
  • Issue the customer with the required service MPRN & MPAN numbers
  • Liaise with planning colleagues within the standard connections team to identify any opportunity of collaborative working
  • Proactively liaise with clients, industry stakeholders and Fulcrum people to ensure that any risks to the successful right first time delivery are prevented or an appropriate, and timely, solution achieved.
  • Identify and support the sales team to secure any required customer variations with the provision of accurate and timely information
  • Ensure a high standard of data quality within Fulcrum systems in line with industry obligations and customer delivery expectations.
  • Identify and implement areas for continuous improvement within the business

A vacancy has arisen within our Technical Delivery team for a new Electrical Design Engineer

This position will be office based and will require the preparation of LV/HV electrical design proposals for housing and industrial and commercial developments.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for cable routes, legal drawings and design reports, will have previous experience in project managing design permissions to enable a safe, right first time delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that the health and safety of others is always taken in to consideration by designing out risk wherever reasonably practicable.
  • Prepare accurate fit for purpose technical designs in accordance with relevant DNO / iDNO requirements and industry codes.
  • Obtain all network design and connection approvals to enable the construction of works in line with customer delivery requirements.
  • Project manage all legal permissions to obtain prior to construction works being undertaken.
  • Proactively liaise with clients, industry stakeholders and Fulcrum people to ensure that any risks to the successful right first time delivery are prevented or an appropriate, and timely, solution achieved.
  • Issue the customer with the required service MPRN & MPAN numbers.
  • Work with sales to provide pre quotation design requirements to enable cost estimates to be produced for quotation purposes as required.
  • Identify and support the sales team to secure any required customer variations with the provision of accurate and timely information
  • Support Operations with technical and industry knowledge to enhance capability within Fulcrum and ensure successful delivery.
  • Ensure a high standard of data quality within Fulcrum systems in line with industry obligations and customer delivery expectations.
  • Identify and implement areas for continuous improvement within the business.
  • Ensure personal competence records are maintained and up to date.
