Fulcrum has seen its continuing commitment to the maintaining the highest standards of health and safety rewarded with its 17th consecutive Gold Medal from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The UK’s leading independent multi-utility infrastructure and services provider also received its third annual Order of Distinction from RoSPA in recognition of its health and safety management systems, working practices and workforce involvement.
This is particularly prevalent during the current Coronavirus outbreak where the company has continued to put the safety and wellbeing of its people, customers and the communities it works in first and foremost by applying the government’s guidelines to its already stringent health and safety practices. This is to ensure that its field-based engineers, who are undertaking essential emergency and critical utility works, along with the public, can remain safe.
As part of its values, Fulcrum also operates its SAFE programme, where the company’s workforce is encouraged to Speak up and challenge, Assess risks, Follow procedures and know that safety is Everyone’s priority.
Daren Harris, CEO at Fulcrum, said:
We are exceptionally proud to have our dedication to exceptional health and safety standards recognised again by RoSPA. Winning our 17th consecutive Gold Medal and a hat-trick of Orders of Distinction clearly demonstrates how safety is ingrained in our culture and our operations.
The safety of our people, our customers and the public are always our utmost priority and this at the heart of how we are responding to the current health crisis. We have a sustained, shared commitment across our workforce, to not only work in line with safety requirements, but also enhance our business by engaging in the development of procedures through our SAFE programme. Their support and proactive implementation of procedures is a major part of the continual development and successful application of our safety commitment.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said:
The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations around the world, making it one of the most sought-after global accolades in health and safety.
RoSPA wants every employee, wherever they are, to work safe in the knowledge that they will be going home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. The RoSPA Award winners are vital to help achieve this goal, as by entering they are driving up standards and setting new benchmarks for organisations everywhere. Currently, around 7million people are directly impacted by the RoSPA Awards, but the scheme’s influence is even wider.
