Fulcrum was selected to design and construct specialist gas works needed to power a new energy centre at Sheffield University as part of major extension works.
Our solution
- The project required a specialist gas connection to an existing intermediate pressure (IP) main, extending it by over 1km into the university grounds, and installing an IP to medium pressure (MP) pressure reduction station (PRS).
- Prior to works commencing, a full site survey was undertaken by our specialist engineers to ensure the required proximity standards for MP and IP were adhered to, and to carry out a “hazardous area assessment” to ensure the governor location was suitable.
Benefits delivered
- A full design submission including G17/GL5 was also completed and, through close working with the adopting gas network, our engineers produced an in-depth design study as part of the IGEM GL5 process required for all IP projects in accordance with pressure system safety regulations (PSSR).
